Mi Casa de Transiciones is Pueblo’s safe home and transitional therapeutic community for women with and without children who have experienced abuse and family violence and who also struggle with issues related to substance abuse.

xmas.gif (188781 bytes)The residents of Mi Casa learn "you can’t keep it until you are willing and practice giving it away." The women and children who live at Mi Casa are learning the importance of giving back to the community.

Christmas was brighter this year for 71 needy at-risk children who received gifts galore thanks to the efforts of the Mi Casa safe house residents who solicited Christmas help from many individuals, businesses, and churches who collaborated with Mi Casa to make "operation Christmas 1998" happen. Residents also were responsible for picking up, sorting, and delivery. Resources to provide new items were contributed by Mervyns, First Congregational Church, Vidmar, Broadway Christian Church, Target B.F. Goodrich, and Hair Arena, as well as surplus, claim return items, and used items provided by Sam’s Club, Little Kids Stuff, My Sisters Closer, and many individuals.

A total of thirty families received "Merry Christmas Boxes" thanks to the community giving to Mi Casa and Mi Casa giving back to the community. Mi Casa has been operating without any Local, State, or Federal assistance. Mi Casa relies on volunteers, private contributions, and Foundation funding in order to keep the organization alive. "Operation Christmas" is pert of the Mi Casa outreach program which provides supportive services and counseling to non-residential families living in the community and who are considered at-risk. Everyone can help Mi Casa in some way. MAKE STOPPING FAMILY VIOLENCE EVERONE’S BUSINESS!!!
